    to all, The problem is solved! I could not install sp , the installer complained that there was no exchange server ... After backing up the registry and db, I re-installed SB ( on top of the existing installation ) It kept all settings and was working again, including public tree management...

    Use exchange system manager and create a new virtual directory with the name you want and point it to whatever mailboxes or tree you want. Than use iis admin to set additional features. On your first question: you cannot give a host header to the port exchange uses. You can hower change the port nr.
