    External IDE on USB as 5th drive.

    When using as an external usb device it doesn't matter-( as far as IDE)--You can have up to 128 usb devices on your machine!!(Better install a new power line to the house).Watch your power requirements-if you don't have a 300watt power supply --you could start to have problems if everything...

    Can't not use external hard drive!

    I had an external usb2 hd and had problems--erratic on and off type problems. I would check power supply to external drive and the usb port on computer.Also I had problems using drive in a usb1 port. Anyway I went back to a usb1 external box and no problems.
