    Would somebody please advise as to how to configure a linux Pc so that a cursor picked text in the window can be pasted elsewhere. For example to vi edit a file listed by ls command. Thanks.

    It used to be possible to cursor highlight and select text in IBM/AIX Xterm windows, but the same procedure does not seem to work in Linux as I have setup. Is it a configuration problem or Linux limitation? Will appreciate any advice. Thanks.

    But the source code is spread over several directories and .cpp's and .h's. It would be hard to all of them to one file and then search through it. There is got to be a better way. Thanks for taking time.

    need to find where in the program a particular variable is defined or used. The program is in C++ resident on a Linux system.
