I understand now, but don't know why it is doing that.
The easiest fix is to find the default system.mdw file on the computer, rename "system_old", and then move your "custom" system.mdw file into the same folder. Make sure that the new file is named "system". This is how I setup my access groups.
I originally tried to create a shortcut to the db and reference the workgroup. That isn't working out because of how many different databases that we have running within our organization. BUT when I make the custom workgroup my default, it doesn't seem to "take".
I'm not quite sure what you...
Best method is to split your database into BE (backend) and FE (front end) as suggested.
You can also manually open up your database in Exclusive mode by opening Access (by itself, not the database), then File / Open.
Locate the database you want to open, click on the down-arrow next to your...
"I put the expression:
IIf([EndTime]>[Cut],[EndTime]-[Cut],(TimeValue("23:59")+[EndTime])-[Cut]+TimeValue("00:01"))
In a field on my query. The query draws the numbers from a table where date fields are formated as 'general date'. When I run my report, I get a decimal...
rjnitke:
I just tried it, and you CAN build this expression in a query for use in a report. Don't worry about using SetValue or other commands. You'll need to use the Expression Builder (or just type the command in) in the Field block of the query, and then add it into the report.
To F/U my suggestion:
The suggestion by BobJackson: IIF([EndTime] >= [StartTime], TimeValue([EndTime]) - TimeValue([StartTime]), TimeValue([EndTime] + 2400) - TimeValue([StartTime]))
will not work, at least not for me, because Access doesn't recognize 2400 as a real time value. That's why I...
rjnitke, it sounds like you are working on the same project I am working on. I have come across the same problem, and have a solution that doesn't involve entering dates along with the times.
I use a combination of macros based on Expression Builder.
An example is Procedure Time. Procedure...
"The only this is, is that now all of my databases, even unsecured ones, come up an ask me for a username and password on my pc, but on other users pc those unsecured ones don't asked for anything."
I have my database security setup this way, and I prefer it because I can tailor the...
I was using the Expression Builder, and used IFF to set the value of a textbox based on CurrentUser() status. Like this:
(IFF CurrentUser()="Admin", 1,0) +
(IFF CurrentUser()="Victor", 2,0) +
(IFF CurrentUser()="Mary", 3,0)
So that Text5 would = 1 if Admin...
Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll study up on VB. In the meantime, it would just be simplest to add some command buttons to the Welcome screen and adjust the security settings accordingly. This will work, but isn't as aesthetically pleasing.
mph1:
No, I didn't use a wizard to create the Welcome form, I created it from scratch. The purpose of this initial startup was to greet the user, and provide a starting area to proceed to the next usuable form. The Welcome form has no input by the user, other than an Exit. I wanted something...
Here's what I need to do: based on the value of a field on my startup form ( this is [Forms]![Welcome]![Text7] and is a number) I'd like to have an automatic selection of the next form to open. So far, I have that the startup form (Welcome) automatically closes on timer, but I can't work out a...
