Job putting itself on hold

mohamdr, Then why does this not happen all the time, if we are not patched up to latest (and greatest) CA patch? We are VERY SLOW to implement any new patches that CA says "need" to be installed. Previous experience is that these fixes cause other issues to happen.

    Job putting itself on hold

nope. No one went to modify. Even after you modify, the job goes back to a ready state.

    Job putting itself on hold

Here is a good one... Arcserve 2000 NT4sp6a Local job custom schedule at 5pm the job was in a ready state, came in this morning and the job was on hold, (it never ran). Nothing in arcserve.log to indicate a change was made. CA has no clue. Any thoughts would be appreciated Thanks in advance

    compression

Wondering if anyone out there has any ideas? I have a job that should take 6 tapes, I loaded 7 just to be sure. Came in this morning, and Arcserve was looking for tape 8.. no errors in log, compression is ON.. One of the tapes (using device manager) has 113,00 meg written. No other tape that...

    3825 (Media=) error

Here is one that no one from CA can seem to figure out. Started a few weeks ago, we had database corruption, and initializing did not solve the issues. A blank database was put in place, and all seems fine. However, since all media records were deleted, each tape needs to be formatted at...

    Arcserve 2000 CAT file

FYI, CA said, and I have proven, that this is just a mis-report of an error. The backups are not affected. Restores are not compromised. They have a test fix available, but I am not a beta tester for them. Especially on a production server. Unbelieveable

    Arcserve 2000 CAT file

Sorry, Local machine = member server in SAN, and the job is a full backup of the machine. This is teh only server that this particular job backs up

    Arcserve 2000 CAT file

The path is well under the 256 char. limit. There are no client agents installed it is on a backup of the local machine to a SAN device.

    Arcserve 2000 CAT file

Called CA AGAIN, and their suggestion was to turn off AV software (on a friday night). UNBELIEVABLE. PS the server has always been running AV all the time, as well as Arcserve. any thoughts would be appreciated Thanks

    SAN devices update slowly

Anyone out there ever experience this? In a SAN environment, either a format or an erase of a tape takes a very long period of time. A regular inventory is normal.. All drives have been cleaned, and I am using known good tapes. Thanks

    Arcserve 2000 CAT file

Nope... No TMP files are left over, Support at CA has NO CLUE, and I even went as far as to install a new (blank) DB. This did not solve the problem. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank You

    Arcserve / SQL errors 8542 & 8563

Thanks. I appreciate the insight, and will look into it. This was a 1 time error, and of course, cannot be reproduced (as that would make my life easier)

    Arcserve / SQL errors 8542 & 8563

Thanks, But this does not tell me what caused this to occur 1 time (and if "planets are aligned properly", it could happen again)

    Arcserve / SQL errors 8542 & 8563

Hope that someone out there can help me w/ this unreproduceable Arcserve issue. A little background. All servers in SAN are NT4sp6a, Arcserve 2000 AE is fully patched. A while back when backing up a SQL DB, I received the following error in AS job log. E8542 Failed to receive data from SQL...
