Can't get multipathing to take hold

Problem solved. Sun came in and found that, although the HBA cards installed in the 4600 and 2200 were in a box labeled as revision 02, they were in fact revision 01. Once the cards were replaced the system starting working properly.

Can't get multipathing to take hold

I have set up a system with a Storedge 2530 array. It is attached with 2 HBAs to an X2200 and 2 HBAs to an X4600 server. Both systems are running Solaris 10 05/08 release. I have configured volumes on the array using the CAM (common array manager) software provided by SUN. I have mapped...

    Disk array messing up boot

I have a Sun x4600 server. Added a SCSI card and connected a Storedge 3320 disk array (JBOD). Once connected, Solaris 10 is trying to boot using any of the disks in the array. My operating system is on the 4600. When I add only one bank of disks (6 disks) it boots fine. When I add the...

Can 2 servers share the same disk?

I have 2 independant X4600 servers that will both be plugged into a 3320 disk array containing 10 disks. Can the 4600s share a disk or do I need to isolate the disks, 5 for one machine and 5 for the other machine? Thanks in advance.

How would I change server name?

This is on a Unix machine running Solaris 7. I could do it using vi but that takes a while and we are going to be constantly changing the name of the machine so I'd like to script it so it can be done quickly each time. Thanks

How would I change server name?

Hello all, I'm trying to create a script (with virtually no scripting experience) to convert the /etc/hosts file to reflect a new name for the server. Any ideas on how to go about doing that? Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    metadb question

We have a Sun E5500 server that uses two D1000 disk arrays, each holding 6 disks for a total of 24 disks on the system. Whenver you go into the metadevices and type ./metadb you get a list of all of the metadb in sequential order. We put the metadb on slice 7 of each disk so when you do a...

What happens if I don't use a backup slice on disk?

I am trying to design a disk format for a new system. We are planning on mirroring the disks. I want to free up one of the partitions on each disk to use for other things. I'm wondering what are the ramifications of not having the backup slice on the disk?

Is there a way to go from 9GB to 36gb using disksuite?

I'm trying to upgrade an E5500 server that has two disk arrays(12 disks in each) that are 9gb disks. We want to replace 9gb disks with 36gb disks. I know that disksuite has limitations because it will copy over the 9gb to the 36gb disk but leave the other 27gb as unused and unavailable. Does...

    Can't access certain websites

Solved it. Found out that you have to go into the WAN settings on the router and change the MTU to a lower default setting. It was set to 1500. Changed that to 1452 (as suggested by Dlink) and that solved the problem.

Can't seem to kill a process

I've got a process running on the server that opens a display on a workstation. From time to time, this process will get hung, eat up a ton of CPU usage, and I'm never able to kill it. I tried rebooting the workstation, no dice. Logged into the server as root and did a kill -9 on the process...
