Word Locks up when you try to load the Program

I need some help here. I am currently running Windows XP with Office 2000 Pro. All of my Office programs run with no problems except Word. When I load word it brings up the Word 2000 Splash and locks there. Sometimes it comes up with a Memory Error but then it locks with the blue screen of...

VPN - Internet access 10.x.x.x intranet

Greetings, we are using a VPN to a sister corporation (addrs 10.190.x.x). That seems to work very well. However, since we configured the route, we are unable to access the internet using the website name. If we access a website by it's ipaddress, it will load the partial page. I know that...

DNS - adding a bunch of records

Thanks again. So if I'm reading this correctly, I have to insert the records in the correct order to the file?

DNS - adding a bunch of records

Hi Peter, thanks once again for your assistance. I have another question. In the in-addr.arpa file, some entries made via DNS manager gui show these entries: 100.12.155 PTR hio0012.router.cccd.com. PTR h00012-router.cccd.com. 110.12.155 PTR...

    Server dropping connection

Hi, I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents worth... I had a server nic that would drop off the network under heavy load (mostly during remote backups). When I checked the MS Hardware compatibility list, I found it was a problem with the nic model. I changed out the nic, and the server hasn't...

DNS - adding a bunch of records

Peter, thank you for the info. I'll give it a try, but I do have concern about the reverse lookup records. I assume it will be necessary to update the in-addr.arpa file with the new reverse entries, too. Is that correct? Regards, Pam

    NT4 lpr print to Unix

Hi butchrecon, thanks for responding. I was referring to the hosts file on the Unix systems. I compared the hosts files on the NT systems, and they are basically the same as each other (NT/NT). That is to say: the NT system that prints ok has a hosts file very similar to the one that...

    NT4 lpr print SCO OSR5

When I lpr from NT4 (Server A) to a Unix system (running lpd), Server A errors "print server did not accept request. Job Aborted". Server B (NT4) lpr to the same Unix system prints ok. The hosts and hosts.lpd file contain both Server A & Server B records. I need to be able to lpr...

DNS - adding a bunch of records

Win NT 4.0 - DNS is already installed and running, however I need to add a bunch of records to the existing DNS. Do you know of a way to add a bunch of records without having to key individual hosts in DNS Manager? (concatenation of a flat file to the DNS). Thanks.

    DNS-adding a lot of records?

Does anyone know of a way to add a bunch of records (from a text file) to an existing DNS on NT4?

Does anyone know what bad media means?

I had a similar problem. Try: tools - options - media overwrite tab. Ensure the "Cartridge type" is correct for the dlt drive. Then you may need to manually label the tape. Hope that helps.

Implementing W32Time with RFC 868 system

Hello, [also posted in NT4.0 Server Forum] we are trying to implement time synchronization between an IBM 9672 mainframe and NT (4.x & Win2K) servers in a LAN environment. Basically we want to set the time on the NT servers from the time on the mainframe. The mainframe uses an RFC868...

    Windows Explorer View Mode

Have you solved the problem? I have a user with a similar problem (the detail view is blank, but the "list" view is ok), and would benefit from any solution you can provide. The best I can do is recommend reloading Win95.

    Win2K server and Netware server

Hi, if you are using Win9x clients, add (rt click netwk neighborhood, properties) MS Network Client and MS Netware Client and configure each. They should be able to login to both. Hope that helps!

    Win2K W32Time

On a win2k server in an NT 4.0 domain, this message appears in the event log : "Warning Event 64 in the System log From w32time". My question is: can I safely turn this service off & manual startup if the authentication is done by the NT4 domain until we migrate to a win2k domain...

CoreBuilder3500-max # of telnet sessions engaged

When I try to telnet to the CoreBuilder 3500, I get "the maximum number of telnet sessions for the system are engaged". The timeout value is set to 15 minutes, and the console access is enabled. Is there a way to reset the telnet sessions (without rebooting the CB)?
