I found a note in the manual about the NT7R93AA adapter and how it 'is only necessary for connection with the NT7R93BA adapter in a direct cable connection that does not use a T1, thus not using a CSU/DSU'. So, it looks like it can be done I just need to find theses adapters.
We currently have an Meridan Option 21 switch that is connected to a mini
carrier remote via T1. We are going to be bringing a GB fiber connection
online fairly soon and will be removing the T1 connection. My question is
what type of converters/adapters/etc would I need to keep this...
The forward and reverse zones all have entries for the 3 servers and the workstation that I am trying to look up.

I have 3 DNS servers, 2 new W2K3 and one NT4. If I use either one of the 2 new W2K3 servers to do an NSLOOKUP query for a given internal machine name, I receive back a ***request to %servername% timed out*** response. I can set the timeout value to 20 seconds and it still doesn't matter, I get...
We are getting ready to transfer our File and Print duties over to W2K3. In Netware there are attributes called "Delete Inhibit" and "Rename Inhibit". These really help to cut down on accidental deletions and directory moves. Is there a similar setting in W2K3 that will...
The *easiest* way would be to add the Domain User group to the local Power Users group, but they will be allowed to update other settigns and also install miscellaneous software that you probably don't want on the network.
Changing the time is something you can assign via GPO. If they need to...
When I run the schmmgmt mmc console and right click on 'Operations Master', The option to "Enable updates to the schema on this Domain Controller" (or whatever the actual wording is) is no longer present. Does anyone have any thoughts on why this is no longer visible? I do not think it...
Don't exactly understand your post but are you trying to get a different page to load instead of the default home page on the server? I.E. trying to load thisone.html instead of default.html? Fish

You are correct in that I think these are broadcasts. I was just curious if there was a way to fix it. If we utilize the IPX/SPX protocol then they come through fine, just not with TCP/IP. I am guessing that since the IPX connections can be seen that maybe there is a router modification or...
IP issue: The ports (5631, 5632) on our point-to-point routers have been open for the pcAnywhere communication. If you type in the IP address of the host you can connect. If you open up the box to display all hosts, none of them show up. Any ideas? Fish

Having a AD with a .com domain is not a very critical issue, providing you keep your internal DNS records and zones internal. If you never, ever (unlikely given the business structure today) plan to be connected then that name doesn't matter. If you wake up one morning and decide to put the...
Definately go with a hardware-based RAID solution. RAID-1 is easy to set up (mirrored discs) and a decent card will only run you around $100.00 Fish

When attempting to run the ADMT for a user migration, I reveive an error message that states the 'source computer has refused the connection'. A trust is established and functional. The IP reg hack for allowclientconnect (or close) has been applied. The target admin is a member of the built-in...
Any links to good documentation regarding this procedure would be appreciated. There is not very much info on Novell's site.
Thanks Fish

We have a lot of these and I am not a Novell guy so if someone could clue me in I would appreciate it. We have users that cannot log in to the server when there are a lot of these, so I delete them and then users can log in just fine. I am guessing that these connections are using up licenses...
Thanks for the insight gentlemen. We currently have 5 NW 5.0 servers running and they perform the file and prit services very well. We do not have any trouble with them and I know enough about them to be dangerous. The basic issue is that if I need to replace our servers (lease expiration), do I...
Do you both like/prefer the W2K strictly based on its interface or are you basing this on performance? I prefer to have a homogenous network and am a Microsoft guy also, but I do not want to convert to stright MS and end up with a 50% drop in file server performance.
Thanks. Fish

I am looking for an unbiased comparison of the performance between the two Operating systems on the same hardware. Can anyone point me in the right direction? The only information and data I haev found so far can be traced back to either the Microsoft or Novell sites.
