nope. im not.
anyway, guys, i think i solved the problem. i think its an incompatibility issue between the NEc drive and nforce 3 IDE drivers. with the driver the DVD wont work. if i uninstall it it works.
i've recently built myself a rig. the specs:
a64 3200
MSI K8n Neo2 bios v. 1.4
6800 ultra
36 gb raptor
160 WD PATA
200 maxtor PATA
my problem is my NEC DVD RW drive wont work. i hooked it up as secondary slave with 200 WD PATA as secondary master. i replaced the writer with a Lite-on CD...

one more thing would mandrake be easier? thanks![afro2]
hi all!
i have a winxp PC and a red hat 9 PC. both connected to the internet thru a linksys router. the red hat9 PC has 3 HD's each 6 gig in size. 2 of the HD i formatted as fat32.
what im trying to do is do file sharing between red hat and winxp with the HD in the linux machine formatted as...
ok, first i had problems with repeated disconnections with my wireless router. i then solved it by disabling WEP. now i have a new problem. my wireless USB isnt even picking up any wireless networks around(there's 2 more in our area). ARRGG!!!

OMG!

i got 128 bit encryption, plus all the othere settings mentioned above, am i ok?
hmmm. im not sure, but i think you should hear only one beep. after the beep you should see the bios post. if you hear one beep followed by another beep after a while it sounds like spontaneous rebooting to me...symptom of a bad ram(if windows wasnt installed yet). can you provide us specs of...
can i do this? i saw a product from soyo wherein they have a USB flash drive and you can choose between bootable and non-bootable. if bootable, how do you configure the bios? i have an asus a7n8x.
i think that's what cable companies recommend. you always have to do the splitting from the source. connect one end to your PC for internet then the other end would be for cable tv. then do all the splitting on the cable TV line. i used to have connection problems which got solved by doing...
wow! im glad that this problem is really a problem. i thought i messed up my wireless connection when that problem happened.
let me ask you a question, so with this update causing this problem is it advisable to not install the patch at all?
mainegeek, what if i just replace the fan with like thermaltake? im gonna replace the video card early next anyway. i hate the process of RMA's with newegg. you'recharged 15% outright, you pay for the mail, then you wait for about a week(if you're lucky). nice idea?
thanks for the reply mainegeek :) i think i got it. its the video card. i removed the HD, then card, then attached one by one listening where the noise will reappear. the video card's (MSI geforce4 Ti 4800SE) fan was dusty. i cleaned it then reattached. the noise was less but its still...
