I'm using Symantec System Center (SSC) to install the Management Server per Symantec's instructions. I uninstalled the old SSC, uninstalled the old client, installed SSC 10 and I'm using the AV Server Rollout tool to install the Management Server on the same computer (just as Symantec...
Is the Management Server a part of the Workgroup? If you can't see the workstations in Explorer then there's definately a communication problem. If all workstations are running the same OS or 2000 and above, TCP should be standard.
Boot from Safe mode, and uninstall the antivirus client. Try it again. If it still doesn't work, try the CD install, if that doesn't work, you might want to contact Symantec tech support to report it.
You're going to call them? You might as well call them, put them on hold, go to lunch and maybe when you get back you'll get to speak to a representative.
Well, it looks like I'm going to hold off on installing version 10 until this thing gets sorted out. I'll be neck deep in documentation this weekend...
I had the same problem (Symantec 9.0), but I only had trouble sending to a few locations like hotmail and something else. To fix the problem, pull up the AV Client on the mail server and see if you can turn off Internet Email Scanning and Exchange Email Scanning. A key symptom of having these...
Wow, that's an odd request. Did you give your boss a funny look? :p At any rate there may be more than one way to do this and there might be more elegant ways than mine, but here it goes anyways. Go to the Active Directory and select that particular user. Go to the Properties and then...
Yes, the profiles load okay, but I cannot start Microsoft Outlook. When I click on the Outlook icon to set up their account, I get a "Cannot Start Microsoft Outlook" error pop-up. When I go to the Control Panel to configure the email, the Mail icon isn't there.
This problem is racking my brain. I set up a few of our users with roaming profiles since they don't have static workstations. They frequently jump from machine to machine and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) standards require that they have their own user names and...
I'm having the same problem with hotmail. Sometimes I can send and sometimes I get error messages like yours. This is happening with another location as well. We can recieve emails from hotmail and this other location, but they cannot recieve email from us. When I check the SMTP Outbound...
Not bad. The Comptia exams cost more. I know enough to study on my own so I can factor in the cost of books and such. I just hope its worth my time. Do you by chance know how much more money a MCSE makes?
I might go the book route. I looked up boot camps and such and the price isn't worth it. Right now I'm working on my Network+ and I already have my A+ so that should take care of at least one of the electives.
KK, I was just going to get the books. I "experiment" alot at work when possible/feasible so I picked up a lot of stuff plus I have access to free software.
