    this will work for the 1600 not sure about the other.. Log into the router in priveliged mode... Router#> enter "write erase" confirm (the router will ask.) reboot the router.

    Ok, so after reading even more post here, and searching posts elsewhere, it seems that those of us that want to use vpn and Cisco 1601 routers are viewed as lepers, Plagued or otherwise over looked. Guess I will buy a different router and see what I can accomplish on my own. Thanks.
