Thanks for the tip on the qlr manager at www.qlrmanager.com Based on your post, I tried the demo. Very easy to use. I plan on downloading and installing the product for my own use.
There's certainly a bunch of good tools for managing your databases using a GUI, such as those mentioned above, or phpmyadmin. If you're looking to write / save queries and generate reports, try the QLR manager at www.qlrmanager.com
Not that it's using VB, but you can use a tool called the QLR manager that generate reports from MySQL database via a web browser interface. You can find it at www.qlrmanager.com. It might not be quite what you need, but it sure makes reporting easy.
There's a farily new browser based MySQL report generating tool called the QLR manager that produces reports, including being able to create page breaks on group, etc.... Check it out at

Seems to work pretty good from what I've seen so far in my use.
