    Thanks for your help, but yes, I have tried all of the suggestions you have listed. Yes it only happens only on the new Optiplex machines. the 3 new Workstations are fine. I hate to blame something like this on hardware, but I am running out of ideas (and patience).

    Manually clicking Send/Receive does nothing on these machines. It says "checking for new mail and sending messages" then nothing happens. The message is still in the outbox. BTW, I am wired to the Internet via a DSL connectiion.
