Hi again, Dual boot XP and Vista. I can install any Vista updates except service pack 1. It gets to 98%. Jumps to 100% then, reverts changes as "some changes could not be completed, Reverting changes, Will retry on startup". Any ideas? Thanks. You guys are the best. Ed

Probably simple but the answer is passing me by. in 98 and XP if I "open in new window" using IE 6.0 the new window(s) always open about 1/4 the screen size. How would I get them to be max'ed all the time? TIA Ed

Can I safely Format and install 98SE with XP on the same HD ? I suppose I'll have to fix the MBR after to be able to get to XP again. No?

No. Cant do a thing. I tried it all. Installed (upgraded) to ME last night. At least I can still use the programs that I was running under 98. Now I have a new problem. every time dialup connects ME reboots. Im off to the forums to (hopefully) find a fix.

Good thing I dual boot or I couldnt ask for help. When 98se begins to start I get a quick flash of the start screen then C: with a rapidly blinking cursor. XP starts with no problem. Any answer but reinstall. Both OS's are on the same HD. Thanks Ed

And now ... the rest of the story. Removed "everything" from the system. Bios went ok.:-) added in floppy, booted from floppy. Good. Added master HD all went back to hell !?! It seems win xpdid something to the HD ... changed sector,head or cylinder numbers. I dont remember...
