Ah - ok - maybe terminology confusion - happy for it to be on my part!
Steve, you're absolutely right in what u say - only consideration:
I've seen it on a few of the installations that we look after that the DNS server stops forwarding requests (it's enabled by default). If u do have...
Sounds like you are connecting directly using public IP addresses - running File & Print sharing over the internet is about as dangerous as it gets - regardless of firewall!
Much better to use RRAS & VPN.
Check the sub-netting on each machine - how are you connecting your XP home machine to...
At the risk of sounding pedantic, I wouldn't set up DNS forwarders as a matter of course - if you use your local DNS server and let it go out and find as necessary, then each of your clients can enjoy quicker DNS resolution as a result of there being a cache being built up on a local server...

You actually got the ADSL router / connection? if not, then no point in enabling the external NIC. If so, then you will need to ensure that the LAN side of the router is configured to be able to see the subnet that the external NIC is on...
eg
Server's internal NIC is 192.168.0.1...

Its the other way around - you need to ensure that the NT server is able to authenticate with the 2K server. Is the NT server enrolled in the AD Domain?
Doesn't sound like a DNS/WINS/IP problem...

ISA is a bit of a monster, but does actually work. Best thing to do is use the wizard off the SBS Administrator console - don't try and do it manually until u've seen the results of the wizard's configuration.

You need to do two things:
1. Reset permissions on the files on the old 351 server before you try transferring them. "Everyone" is probably a good choice here! If you don't you may find that some files are inaccessible off the new server.
2. Connect to the old server from the new...

If you're gonna have ur BT Router deliver the DHCP, then all the client machines are gonna have to be able to see the router directly - ie they will all need to be connected to it.
Best scenario - have 2 NICs in the W2K server - connect one to the BT and connect the other to your internal...
The general rule of thumb is as follows:
Settings on the server machine:
Your internal NIC has NO gateway
Your external NIC is gatewayed out to your Internet router
Settings for client machines - either fixed or ideally DHCP:
Gateway is the IP address of the servers Internal NIC

If you can ping the IP address, but not the manchine by name, then it sounds like you need to ensure that the machine the other side of the router is set to register it's connection in DNS / WINS.

If I understand your post correctly, you cannot use SMTP to receive eMails in Outlook Express. SMTP is a Server to Server protocol.
POP(3) is a mail collection protocol - initiated by the client to the server.
Easy thing to do here - Argosoft Mail Server runs on NT, is free at the low...
Are you DHCPing the ipconfig to all three? A, B & yours? If not then check IP address, subnet mask and DNS settings on each of A & B.
Can A&B ping other machines on the LAN, just not that particular one?
Echoing Lander's post - if it's by address/computer name, then suspect DNS, and make sure...

You need to change the Group Policy refresh interval which is 90 minutes by default if you want to refresh it at another interval - but this will affect all the workstations too.
Interestingly, the two examples that you mentioned are anomalies!
Internet Explorer always tries to open an...
Does it matter to you that the Primary always provides the DHCP first? We have two DHCP servers on our LAN - both configured to provide different scopes with a subnet mask that encompasses both eg DHCP1 provides 10.0.10.x and DHCP2 provides 10.10.20.x and both provide a subnet of 255.255.0.0 -...
DB1 contains the base data, DB2 the import table. Open DB1, choose File | Get External Data then import or Link Tables as required.
Import will copy all the table rows from the selected table in DB2, while Link Tables will merely provide you with a link into the table that remains in the source...

If you've got controls within an option group then u need to set the value of the option group rather than the individual control within it.
eg
optiongroupname = "Blue" will toggle the blue on and the red off

Solution to having to do these interactively each time u reboot is:
1. Create a batch file to add the route - type route add at the command prompt for details...
2. Create a scheduled task to run the batch file at system startup - don't put it into the Programs | startup - that...
