I have been trying to get mandrake 7.1 and i tryed to reinstall mandrake so i could start from scratch. When i got to the network card setup and selected my card as a ne2000 compaible it couldn't find it on autoprobe and manual settings. when i went into hardware config it dected the card fine...
I don't think that raid controller is a scsi, normal ide (otherwise you would have to mess with numbers in the chain and you would be able to put more than 2 devices on one port)
Well, now when i did isapnp /root/dump.txt it dected my network card. But it still says that it can't find eth0 (it may still say that it can't find a ne*000 device, i can't rember)
i think the command is soundconf to configure the sound card (i may be wrong) run it in the konsole and it should find your card and configrue it automadicly and play some test sounds
I'm haveing immence trouble getting my network card (dlink de220) to work in linux with my cable modem. I don't know the exact module to load (my card is listed in hardware config) and i am currently trying ne*000 (supposeidly a ne2000 compadible card)and it gives me errors like the device is...
I tryed the same thing (on mandrake though) when i connect to a friends server, i use putty_ssh and when i type in startx it starts to load and then crashes (not the computer, just what startx does)
I found out that my ip is not the ip that i set it to through the config for my network card, it lists it through ipconfig as 127.0.0.1 instead of what my cable modem is, how do i set it to what it is supposto be?
here it the error i get:
Warning: the following hosts are unknown:

This means that some or all hosts will be unreachable.
Perhaps there is a problem with your name server?
If your site must use a non-root name server, you
will need to set...
Well, i did what you said but it gives me an error about my $socks_ne (or whatever) and mentions some netscape words (I can't rember them off hand) i think it was doman servers or something, i don't know..
I'm running linux mandrake 7.1 that i got from maximum linux and i can't figure out what to do to get my @home cable modem working in linux, it works fine otherwise in my 2 other os's (win98/BeOS) but i can't figure it out in linux, thanks!
