Heres the problem I have. Somebody wants me to divide a range of IP addresses up into four sections and then route all outgoing traffic from them through one of two serial interfaces but staggered in that for example:
serial 1
.1-.10 & .21-.30
Serial 2
.11-.20 & .31-.40
I have the route-map...
I had a similar problem... just stopped working. Had to make sure that each machine being backed up had the nic set at half duplex. Just happened out of the blue. If your on a hub and not a switch like us. You need to set all your cards to half duplex.

Also try navigating into the diagnostics of the modem through the control panel. If they have windows, it may be in a different area due to versions. If you query the modem and it says "port already open" try removing the modem from the list and letting windows redetect it. If it...
Don't know if it will help, not sure of the situation. But most users we have, have to remove their modem and reinstall it if they get that error during diagnostics. I'm not sure by what you say whether you actually have the modem installed or not. It also could mean you need a new modem.

I have several machines that are being backed up over an ethernet network through a autosensing 10/100 switch by arcserve 9.1 on a win 2000 machine. Recently, apparently with no change that I was informed of on the network, they suddenly started being backed up at between 6 and 8 MB per minute...
