Thanks for the reply. I still have the swatches that I can't delete but I was able to get around it. I had to unfortunately change everything to the spot I wanted. I then went into seperation overview to make sure there was nothing with the color. The bad spots still shows in the seperation...
I've been working on a document that keeps adding new swatches every time I paste in a table with color backgrounds. I started with a spot color swatch called Orange, but now I have Orange 2, Orange 3, Orange 4, etc. I can't delete them! They are not part of an illustrator file. I can't tell why...

I had the same problem for a while. It was the strangest thing. Make sure the transform and layers palettes are not together in the same box. Seperate them and it will be okay. at least it was for me. check out my question Unexpectedly Quits
I have always had to copy with the text tool in AI then paste in ID. It does not keep the font styles. If you try copying and pasting with the selection tool it comes in as a picture. I'm hoping this is something they can fix in the future.
thanks that's exactly what was happening. I tried it separate and it worked fine. put them together and it quits. That is a really stupid reason for it to just quit though. so simple that most wouldn't figure it out unless by accident. I was doing things like Nortons Disk Doctor, which wont work...
It happens every time I try to move an object from one layer to another in the layers menu. I just suddenly quits. Can you please help me? It's driving me nuts having to cut an paste from one layer to another.
I've just started working with ID. I love it, but I can't edit Illustrator files like the manual says I should be able to. I'm working with AI 10 and ID 2. I've tried saving files in diferent formats and did drag and drop, copy and past. It might as well be a photoshop file for all can do to it...
