To get things working, why not create a VLAN on your server for each subnet you need to Ghost to.
Most Server NICs -except Apple- support VLAN trunking these days.
It works for us.
Cheers,
Ewan.
This can be a pain./
We have had some genuine server generated traffic hit this threshold -10Kpps- they were Ghosting a lab full of dumb client machines.
If your problem is caused by genuine traffic -and not miss-configuration loops, then you can soft set the threshold to 9Kpps.
This will stop...
Why not use device manager?
You can look at the port status or stats for a complete stack of 450s in a single hit.
We swear by OSM 2.0
The VLAN manager function is great and you can quickly see miss-configs and also cretae new VLANs across and entire Campus without visiting every switch...
Using the latest 450 and 8600 code really seems to have helped the old MLT issues.
We still have customers scared to re-visit MLT as they had SO MANY problems a couple of years ago.
For existing problems on older code, we have found that the ONLY sure fire way to avoid MLT issues -apart from...
Dear telecom116,
Comparing Cisco and Nortel for reliabilty, it is a one horse race, Nortel wins hands down.
We have 400+ 450/BPS/460 edge switches and 18 core 8600 switches.
We get more failures on our Cisco wireless LAN, where we have 10 WAPs.
I do agree that out-of-box failures show poor QC...
Regarding the PP86000 port mirroring.
Nortel had to respin the OCTAPID and RATORU ASICS to allow Ingress and Egress port mirroring.
This is now available on host cards with E on the end, ie 8616GTE.
Stuey, I've seen this problem caused by:-
Simultaneous Ghosting of multiple work stations, config error and physical loop back -self inflicted, testing a port.
The best bet is to put a threshold on, we use the maximum configurable value, and just to be anal, set a corresponding threshold to...
