How do I set which printer a particular report should use and even the options within the printer?
One of my reports has done this (and I have no idea how) and I would like to do it for others.
Thanks
Thanks to all for the input. Hope it is helpful to others who have similar date issues.
I was always aware that the date was stored as a single number. It is just very frustrating when sometimes that number is decoded based on regional settings and sometimes on default Microsoft settings...
Thanks orna
My code extracts the date from one table in my desired format (I can see this by stepping through the code) and then writes it to another table. I have used your suggestion to tell it to write to the table in American format ie Format(!Date, "mm/dd/yyyy") and it now writes correctly...
I have had issues for years with Access converting Australian (British) date formats to the American format when using VBA.
My problem is the 5th February will be converted to 02/05/2007 but the 13th of February will be converted to 13/02/2007.
As there is no consistency in the conversion of...
I found it myself at Microsoft. When you go into the facility to compress one picture, you get the opportunity to select all pictures and compress.
It took our file down from 300MB to around 11MB.
Hope this helps someone else who finds this post in a search.
PS To compress a picture, select the...
We have a huge Powerpoint file full of professional quality photos. They were not compressed before being added. At times when I have been creating such a file I get a message offering to compress all my large images (or something similar). Does anyone know how to access this service after the...
Thanks kippy13.
I have passed on your suggestions to the owner of the laptop as I don't have the time or access to implement all your suggestions. He has decided that he doesn't have the technical proficiency to implement the suggestions either so I believe it being refered to a service...
I don't have the computer with me as I write this so it's a bit sketchy.
I type a web address of a folder on a site and IE pops up a download trying to save a file rather than finding the index.htm etc. The file it thinks it is downloading is made up of the address typed in with a .htm...
Thanks flashmedia.
As I said, the XPHome machine has now gone so I can't check but that sounds great. I did use the wizard in the first place so that may not have helped.
I'll certainly keep your above set of instructions for future reference.
Thanks for the input.
Thanks 3wsparky. Some times the simple solutions are the best. Unfortunately this is not one of those times.
I've now lost the computer I was trying to network to so may never find the root cause. I will be removing all network connections shortly and starting from scratch as I have to...
I'm back (briefly)
I'm starting to get really confused now.
The XP Pro machine shows me my workgroup (which I have renamed testing) but will not allow me access to the XP Home machine. The name shown in Windows Explorer for the XP Pro machine on the "Testing" network is not the same...
More info.
If I use the run command on the Pro machine and type
\\Athomeuser\foldername
I can access that folder.
I cannot find a reference to this computer name in anything that I have set. My internet is via a cable modem connected through a USB port. It appears that the name of the...
Guest is enabled on both, I have identically named, priviledged and passworded accounts on both.
I have just run ipconfig /all on the Pro machine and noticed that the host name shown there is the original host name I supplied. The host name that comes up in Windows Explorer when I browse the...
I've been using My Computer > Properties > Computer Name to check and/or change the computer or workgroup name. In there the workgroup name is listed as HOME. How do I change it otherwise?
smah,
Here is the full listing from your suggestion

Thanks bcastner.
Had all that in place already. Just set up a new account on the XP Home machine with exactly the same name, password and priviledges as the account on the Pro machine (both administrator priv) to be sure that was OK.
Still no change.
The Home machine won't even show the HOME...
I have family members who often ring with computer problems. I run XP Pro. One is runnig XP Home the other runs Win95.
Exactly (idiots guide) do I go about using remote assistance for the XP user? Secondly, can I use this in any way with Win95?
Thanx
I have XP Pro on my main machine and want to set up a network to a machine I have just built running XP Home. I have used the Network Wizard (from reading other posts I get the feeling that may not be a good thing) and the outcome is as follows.
I have internet connection sharing no problems...
