Is there a fixed legth for fields used in a MySQL database and if there isn't, how do you alter them? I am currently using MySQL Control Center to administer the databases and it tells me that the fields are fixed in length to 255 characters.

Ok, I have sorted it, looks like it was an internal DNS problem. Entered a host record into DNS and can now access using the website name instead of IP.
