Sniffing the data you are sending?

Yes, still alive. Thanks for your thoughts. Just returned home from a 17,000 km three month round Australia trip towing our camper trailer with my 4wd. Had a fantastic time only needing being rescued once by the State Emergency Service. I had never visited the Aussie western desert areas before...

    VB6 merge of PDF files.

I have seen routines for converting PDF to text. You may be able to shell to these in turn to convert the original docs to text using VB6 file routines (maybe copy files to be created in a dedicated folder with nothing else first) Then 'append' the files into one text file. Then shell to a...

Sniffing the data you are sending?

My how time flies (when you get old) but then maybe it's just as well? Retirement seems busier than when I was working for a living but it is possible I just think slower. Sorry I haven't got back to following this up but the need for it is now not so evident. I suppose I will give it a go as...

    Happy Christmas

Didn't notice my profile showed my age when I first joined Tek-Tips. Perhaps if it was really intelligent it would have updated it automatically each year?

    Happy Christmas

Oxen-a-geraniums now young fellow! Wish I had the time to learn how to write Android aps but would probably be trampled in the stampede by thousands who come up with the same idea.

Windows 7 "Start windows normally" behaviour

I stand corrected, I found the Windows 7 forum in the list that appears when I type in tek-tips.com in the browser. This is however then under Desktop Software (more). I was previously looking for something like "operating systems" which is why I didn't find it. Windows 7 isn't always...

Windows 7 "Start windows normally" behaviour

Thanks. I am not criticising Tek-Tips. They are a great site and of immense help to many people. I was really putting this forward as there could be others who make the same misinterpretation as I did. Maybe the "hole" is the inability to understand how different minds can misinterpret things...

Sniffing the data you are sending?

Yes I'm still alive thanks! As I am approaching my 80th birthday I have given programming a bit of a rest for a while - too busy with other things! I will get back to it when the nights get longer (it's summer here). My only problem now is to find out how the retire from retirement. Whoever said...

Windows 7 "Start windows normally" behaviour

That is exactly my point. It would still appear that if you had never sent me a link to the Windows 7 forum, I would never have found out that one even existed. Because I opened Tek-Tips from the links on the email I received regarding your post, I was not logged on when I read the Win7 forum...

Windows 7 "Start windows normally" behaviour

I saw the light when I noticed the title to the Forum's columns is "My Forums" I had wrongly assumed it was indicating all possible existing forums. Why some of them are there at all is a mystery as I have definitely never visited any of them or seen them mentioned in a post. My original point...

Windows 7 "Start windows normally" behaviour

Not wishing to deeply offend anyone but say a new person was to try to join a forum on this site, are you saying that the first time they typed in tek-tips.com, no forums would be listed at all? If this were the case if a third party recommended the site as a "good site", how would they ever...

Windows 7 "Start windows normally" behaviour

Curious. I'm afraid that doesn't 'compute' because I have never read many of them. Then how do you explain how I ever got to know there was a vb6 forum (or any other for that matter) in the first place?

Windows 7 "Start windows normally" behaviour

    >Well it wouldn't - not unless you'd joined it ... The left hand menu of this Tek-Tips site shows many other forums that I have never joined or visited so why not the Windows 7 forum? In any case, how otherwise do you ever find out that there is a Windows 7 forum in the first place?

Windows 7 "Start windows normally" behaviour

Fixed I simply changed the normal setting in Computer/Properties/Advanced to 10 seconds and it fixed it. It had been set to the default of 30 seconds but for some strange reason was taking 300 seconds (as indicated in the counting down number on the windows DOS screen) Re Windows 7 forum, it is...

Windows 7 "Start windows normally" behaviour

Can't see a specific forum for Windows 7 so I post this odd question here because obviously the learned still inhabit this forum. If I switch off my Win7 32 bit machine prematurely I usually get the normal message to either start in safe mode of "Start windows normally". If I do nothing it...

Sniffing the data you are sending?

Yes but just spent a week in hospital with a foreign virus! It might be some time before I get back to programming. Thanks anyway

How to save multiple jpg images and text as one jpg?

What I meant was 'it was possible in vb6'

How to save multiple jpg images and text as one jpg?

Why not vb6, he does refer to "picture boxes". Maybe easier to always save as 4 jpgs and a text file. Maybe work out some similar filename for each so they could easily be found (Eg Mypicture1.jpg Mypicture2.jpg Mypicture3.jpg mypicture.txt) It would however always need to be viewed in the...
