Hrm - I checked, my current nsr.res has 64K in it, my old one has 128K. I changed my current to 128, but it didn't make my old tapes readable.
Is there anywhere else I have to change the block size besides in the nsr.res file?
Thanks for the reply :)

Well, long story short:
Our old networker machine died (SCSI Card toast, harddrive too small, etc. Ran NT4, Networker 5.7)
Built a new W2k server, copied the old nsr directory over, then installed networker overtop. Works fine for backing up data. Worked fine for recovering small test data...
I thought that too - but checking the directives shows the whole disk checked - and when I go to the indexes they are all checked as well.
We renewed our support contract with Legato today, mainly because of this, so maybe they will have some ideas. Something is obviously very wrong if I can't...
Hrm - I was on the Networker server using the client restore to get the missing index back. (which was empty).
Are you saying I need to go to the client (as in, go to the missing machine and run recover from there?)
Thanks for the reply,
Khyron
Hi,
Running Legato 5.7 - its been working fine until 3 days ago when one of the giant index files vanished.
I've seen instructions to restore it with
nsrck -L 7 clientname
but that doesn't work in 5.7 (there's no -L switch)
I tried restoring the index files as a client restore from the...
Hrm - we rebooted, restarted - still the same. So mounted manually and left it. This morning, everything was back to normal - tapes auto-mount, indexs back up.
Weird - thanks for the advice tho.

Ok this is weird. We've been running Networker on NT for a year, with odd things here and there but nothing huge.
Anyways, we came in yesterday cause the backup was requesting a tape (even tho one was in). It was not mounted. Mounted manually, but now whenever we switch tapes, we have to go in...
Hi, me again.
So I found out I have to restore the entire data store to get at the mailbox I want to recover. Fair enough.
I made a new exchange 5.5 server to receive the old stores - once that is up I'll get the mail I need and forward it to the main exchange.
However - when you go to do a...
Hi,
One of our employees lost all messages in his sent items folder from Nov-March. (Not deleted, lost due to a corruption or something). I want to restore them, but the only option in the Legato exchange plugin is to restore the entire private data store.
Can anyone give me suggestions on...
All our machines are backing up fine, except the exchange server. It has recently started giving:
c:\xchutil.c (1488); Bad argument(s)
Error parsing parameter c:d:\xchutil.c (1488); Bad argument(s)
Error parsing parameter d:
It works if I use the Networker User tool to do a manual, but it will...
Hi CF,
Yes, we're using 5.7 Build 112. What's odd with my 2 pools/schedules is this:
Monday the Onsite schedule is set to SKIP, and the Offsite is set to full. When 9pm rolls around, the Onsite tries to do a incremental backup! If I go into the schedules, and change nothing except setting the...
Hi,
I have 10 boxes, some unix some NT. I have 1 tape drive.
I want to have incremental backups everyday except Wed (which will be a full) and on Mondays. Mondays are the trick - I would like to have that full backup go to a different pool (Offsite).
Now I've tried making 2 groups, each...
If set the manual override, the offsite schedule works - if I don't set it manually, it does not.
So when looking at my schedules, the Onsites are both SKIP and the Offsite is FULL. This doesn't work (the onsites do an incremental and the offsites skip). If I go into the schedules and set the...
Hi,
I've been tossed into the role of "Backup guy" and for the most part it makes sense. However, over the last month this one problem has me stumped.
We have 10 machines, 4 of them unix the rest NT. We have 1 tape drive, and our networker server. We have 2 groups - UNIX-Onsite and...
