Actually, all Pentium D processors support Intel 64 (EM64T) technology, so they can run 64 bit instructions. However (and this is where I'm not entirely sure, hence my dilemma), they split the 64 bit instruction into two 32 bit ones and execute those.

Hi there.
I currently have an Intel Pentium D 820 and I'm a little confused whether I should choose a 32 or 64 bit OS. As I know the Pentium D is not a native 64 bit processor, so far I have used only 32 bit OSs. Still, I am wondering whether a 64 bit OS would be more suited - would there be...
I do have the latest driver. Nothing is overclocked and has never been since I got my PC.
I'm going to try and get another video card to see if something changes.

Hi there! I'm trying to find out what's wrong with my PC and I could use your opinions. My configuration is as follows:
CPU:
Intel Pentium D 820
Cooler:
Stock Box Cooler (Fan + Radiator)
Mainboard:
Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI
Memory:
Geil 2GB PC2-5300 DDR2-667 Dual Channel Kit

OK, maybe that's not the best title, so I'll try to explain. Right now I have a Pentium D that runs a 800 MHz FSB and 1 GB of RAM at 533 MHz (PC 4300). I'm thinking of upgrading to a 2 GB Dual Channel Kit, but I'm puzzled what frequency I should choose for my new RAM. I could stay with 533 MHz...
I can't disagree with that, but my drive does not appear in Disk Management, so I can't change it's letter.

The problem is that the drive won't light up (it has an led) and Windows does not detect it at all, not even as a new hardware when I plug it in.

I've pluged-in my Kingston DataTraveler into an USB port this morning and it didn't start. Windows XP Pro doesn't see it as a new device / drive and the led on the flash does not light.
I remember it working a few days ago so I can't figure out the problem / how to make it work again (hopefully...
Yes, it does sound better. I just didn't know there could be such a big difference (18 GB) so that's why I was concerned. Thought there may be something wrong with my drive.

Just bought my new PC yesterday, featuring a Western Digital, 250 GB, S-ATA2 HDD. However, I have a problem (or at least I think I have one). When installing Windows XP Pro SP2 (at the partitioning sequence) I only got around 232 GB of aviable space instead of 250 GB as it should be. After...
Thank you everybody for your posta. They have been really helpful.
After some more "digging" through the PC dealers in my town I've come up with a new one and I'm going to stick with it. It seems to be really good for about 370$ (without VAT) and that's about how much I can spend right now...
Thank you.
However, after reading some online reviews, I'm leaning towards the GeForce 7300 GT. From what I can see it is much better than the X1300.

I've decided on a Club 3D GeForce 7300GS 256MB. Seems more powerful and I hope it will do.

Well, I'm not really into gaming, but I would like to play an ocasional HL2 or FEAR or something.

XFX GeForce 6200 Turbo Cache 128MB up to 256MB
Asus Ati Radeon...
