    Meeting interuptions

You get the same treatment from a sales clerk at stores. You're standing there ready to buy lots of stuff, and the phone on the desk rings they immediately pick it up. Once I asked why the person answered "in case it's important". I answered I thought sales were important, but I guess...

    Loyalty To The Company

Unfortunately most companies think like Onyx's type. I worked 14 years & got laid off with a few others when the profits started going down. Most of the reasons were pointed out the managers, and were outside of the employees control (like spending lots of money on non-value added projects) All...

    YTD from MTD

Neil I'm not sure what are trying to do exactly. MTD is independant of YTD, though the concept is the same. If you have MTD (and know what month it is now), you can sum (Jan + Feb +...Last month + MTD)=YTD, but this seems like a long way around. Period to dates are very easy in transformer/...

    problems with shipnotenum!!

Murat I would put Ship note # as a separate dimension as it is not related to time at all. Then drill down to the time you want & use the intersect in PP. Just drag the order details dimsension over to the main area after setting up a date filter/ drill down. Cheers Bruce PS did you ever look...

    Cube Measures

Are you using the exchange rate utility in transformer and PP? This would take a little bit of time to set up, but it is the best bet (I believe it needs pp 6.6 & higher)for you if you're setting up a cube for long term use. Your way should be 45 & you're getting 40 indicates you are using...

Forget gender, what about age bias in IT?

Stella It's all about marketing yourself, not the number of years. Number of years in a business is not always a great sign how well you perform. Just ask the Eaton's company in Canada, a large retailer that was well over 120 years old & they went belly up several years ago- they did not...

    Calculation of year-to-date

As Draoued said above, just use the Date wizard, or open up the date dimesion & create a new time period. There are many relative times to chose from (month to date, year to date, quarter to date etc.) & you can create your own special ones. Good luck Bruce

Nested measures in PPES - no totals

Hello Drlex. I used PPES 6 & 7 and it worked fine with nested measures. However there always seemed to be a problem with them when switching between explorer & reporter in PP. I used to have to do some work in exployer (which I always hated) then convert to reporter. Bruce

    .PY? versus .MDL files

I always did the exact opposite of CP, so I guess either 1) I did not FTFM, or 2) different people have different needs. :-) Another plus of MDL is that you can read the file directly in a text editor. I had to use PYx to use sign-ons & run unattended cube updates. Bruce

    Having fun!

The best we did a few years ago was dress up the office as a haunted house. Complete with dry ice, spooky music, hangman, chopped finger cookies, & strbes. The president was so impressed he got his kids school to visit! BR

    .PY? versus .MDL files

Also PYx runs a bit quicker, as it does not have to be compiled. Speed differnce is very little however. Bruce

    Antique DOS Database Overload

Jacq I was thinking that your old data was sales data, not book data. Ignore my prior comment about the old data. An open thought process, how do libraries catalog their book data? It might be interesting for you to visit a large public library & see what type of system they have in place. You...
