Ok... here I am. Back with more info that I'm sure many will find helpful.
So, I have a router in my basement (WL-500g Premium) which is connected to the DSL modem.
All my laptops are connected to this router via wireless connection.
On my main floor I have a home theater where I have:
PS3...
Thank you!
This is what I found by the way:

Very interesting. Seems like they can do that just with two routers.

smah,
Thank you again.
Sent email to Asus. Waiting.
What concerns me is that it seem like you can only have one connection with 300ge. I would then need to connect it to a hub or router to split this into 3 devices that I want to connect.

Since you pointed me towards this direction, I would appreciate if you could help one more time.
I have an Asus router (WL-500g Premium) which I love. I would like to get the AP from ASUS as well.
There 3 different types that Asus makes. Which one should I get?
1) WL-330...
Smah,
Thank you VERY MUCH for your reply.
Gotta research that. I thought about an AP, but didn't know how to set it up. Gotta figure out. Shouldn't be a rocket science. :)
Thanks again!

Hello network gurus!
I would appreciate if someone can help me with the issue I'm about to describe:
I am with Bell Sympatico, so I have a DSL modem connected to a phone line. Then I have an ASUS router that talks to my DSL modem. There are 2 PCs connected to that ASUS router.
All that is in...
Well, I am not here to argue with anyone. I guess we are here to share our experience and help people, so this is what I did. We get through a number of hard drives daily and I must say that data recovery companies don't really like WD drives only because it's difficult to find good matching...
HD1 goes to the museum.
HD2 is not "yet". In general, WD drives are very fragile and more vulnerable then some other brands. Yes, they are very high performing hard drives; however once the head crash occurs – they’re the biggest pain to fix (if fixable).
If you knocked it off, just replace it...
Noisy Seagate? Bearings are gone. Common problem with them. Backup all the files and RMA the drive. I don't suggest running checkdsk on suck drives as you may encounter more problems.

I would suggest you replacing that drive. We've seen such cases in the lab. Firmware corruption. Can be done, and in reality it's not a big deal; however problem may come back.

Dividing partitions may cause problems later. I prefer to keep one partition on the drive unless it's absolutely required to have another one. If you are not a gamer and 3%-5% boost in HDD performance will not get you excited then keep one partition. If you are after high speed and that 3%-5%...
Faster RPM does not necessarily mean faster read/write speed.
Check the specs of each drive on the manufacturer's website and that will give you the answer.

head are slowly dying" - I can't write much about it, as that will take me an hour to explain everything :). Heads get intermittent due to many reasons, thus they loose the ability to read/write correctly, so we end up with checksum errors while writing/reading sectors. If you connect this drive...
No need for spinrite, mhdd, etc. Heads are slowly dying. Defects are growing. This is why the drive is getting slower and slower. I would not suggest using that drive anymore.

No, I disagree. His drive is not toasted yet. There is a chance it can be recovered. At this point he needs to seek help from professional company as 3rd party applications will not help.
P.S. Never open drives if you have critical info on it. Especially if you don't have a clean room.

The answer is no. Why leaving it on? It gets hot, wears.
Just connect it when you need it.

You will never hear anything from Maxtor anymore, because Seagate simply purchased Maxtor almost 2 years ago. :)
Yes, at this moment, Seagate drives seem to be the best, however we started seeing many of them come in with all kinds of failures - boards, mechanical issues, etc.
You can't just...
Hello Tony,
Yes, I agree with you on that 100%. No matter what RAID configuration you have - it still fails.
We get many clients who come with RAID5 failures. The problem is that people fail to monitor their drives and let's say one drive failed, they ignore to respond right away, and when the...
It depends on the system. We have a load of Asus board on WinXP machines, and none of them required drivers for the RAID controller. Once the raid was configured, it was seen as one drive by the system, and then we loaded the OS.
Maybe some older boards need it, but the new one we have - don't...
