What group policies (or other means) are available to lockdown domain user accounts so that a local user account is not automatically created when domain users logon to a workstation?
My goal is to create an environment where domain users only have write access to their own profile.

Problem solved.
I was unaware that swiping the digitizer side to side (while hovering just over the screen) calls up the input panel...
that's all I needed.

Trying to run a full screen rdp session on a terminal server and still maintain input panel functionality.
Ideas and suggestions on how to best make tablet connections work on terminal server connections?
Third party software, tips etc...
Thanks in advance.
Anyone know of a way to disable the initial input panel that pops up at login?
fujuitsu lifebook 4215. I'd like it disabled when it is in notebook orientation and enabled when in tablet orientation.
This may not be possible on the fujitsu but on hp tablet this is the default behaviour.
Solution was to set to auto download only and not install. We have a policy that all users must shut down their computers at the end of the day. So I changed the default shutdown option to "Install updates and shut down." Less of a guarantee that it gets done, but not so much hassle on the...
I would like to restrict users from being able to add an additional preferred wireless network.
I am using group policy in 2003 domain to configure all wireless settings. They currently automatically associate with our network and would have to manual configure settings for another network...
Configuring XP machine autoupdates in 2003 GP.
Is there a way to set an autoupdate and install for a specific time and not autorestart or prompt for restart.
We have an agency wide policy that all workstations must be shut down at the end of the day. I would like to keep users from being...
I have a backup up device folder that holds media for 7 backup jobs. When the jobs first ran media was created. All the jobs are set to allow media overwrite so that the week one job is overwritten by the week 2 job... works fine. However, some of the jobs have grown in size...and now the...
I've seen up to ten copies of the same .msp. Different names but exact same file size and properties. Apparently microsoft is aware.

On a number of Dell SX-270 boxes...the winnt directory has grown to sizes of 7-8 GB. I am new to this particular network environment but understand that these machines were upgraded to XP pro from 2000.
When I add up all the files in one of the 8 GB winnt directories I come up with roughly...
Update: For anyone else who may find this information helpful.
One solution is to uncheck the use default gateway in the dial-up connection properties. Users can access LAN resources but are unable to get to the internet.
I am hoping there is a way I can apply this setting via a group policy...
I have group policy set up to stop laptop users from accessing the internet (Changed proxy server to 127.0.0.1).
This works great while they are in-house.
However, when they are offsite and dialed into our w2k RAS server the group policy does not stop them from connecting to the internet...
When remote user attempts to connect server locks up and becomes unresponsive for both remote user and user sitting at the machine.
Can connect from another networked machine via remote desktop and all looks normal. Stopping the pcanywhere service does not cause the server to become responsive...
Ended up using group policy to lockdown all network connection properties. Was not sure that this W2K server gps would apply to wireless connections as well as LAN...but seems to have worked.
Thanks for the response Rick. Was not aware of thin AP's.
Trying to limit users so that they are only able to connect to our wireless network. The linkysys WAP54G Access points that we are using did not come with client management software so I am using windows to configure the wireless network settings.
A) Is there any downloadable wireless client...
