I followed the procedure mentioned earlier but keep in mind after i completed it i could not see any info in the activity monitor.
I could see processess spawning on the nodes and backups were being done but i could not view any job details through the GUI.
I did it quite awhile ago but if i remember correctly i added it to the servers list and also used the "media host overide" option going from the old server name to the new server. I think i also may have placed an entry in the hosts file for the old a new server name in the new master...
Hi
Has anyone done this procedure for Netbackup 4.5 sucessfully?
There are a couple changes in 4.5 and when i completed the procedure everything seemed to work fine except for the fact that all the info that would exist in the activity monitor was not being displayed. I could not see any info...
Buffer settings must be set purely on what kind of data you are backing up and what kind of hardware you are using to back it up.
First contact the hardware vendor and find out what the buffer setting their hardware is optimized for.
Use that as a a foundation.
If you are backing up large file...
I was more refering to where the hostname can be found in the netbackup database's and registry.
eg image catalogue, device catalogue - all on the master server.
Importing the tapes will work but it is too much of a long process. I realised i can put entries into the hosts file but that is a messy method.
Does anyone know all the places the hostname is placed and maybe i can work on finding way to change all of them indiviually or with scripting.
Thanks
I tried the instructions from the technote on moving a master server unsuccessfully.
I need to change the hostname of a master server. Anyone have any idea what the procedure to follow is ?
I tried the procedure methodically and i keep getting handshake errors when i try recover the db into the new master server. Any ideas
I am using a hosts file on the local box and am testing it on a stand alone master server so name resolution should not be a problem here.
