I had a similar problem. I assume it is because the <OPTION> tag is a part of the <SELECT> tag though that doesnt really explain why innerhtml behaves the way it does. What i did was create a string with all my options in it and then use "outerHTML" and reprint the <SELECT> tags...
Also, if "cnn" is a connection object (and not just a connection string), you have to:
