The start-up manager that I use is *StartStop* it is free and you can do a google search and download. Also check the Me FAQ #5 to get your computer to run well.

Windows Me can be a very good OS once you get it tweaked up and the best way to do this is to follow as many of Trev's tweaks as you feel comfortable with.

See if you can boot from a startup disk and go to safe mode and try to do a system restore. Also do a scandisk and defrag in safe mode. Hope this helps you.
