Hi ski,
Thanks for the reply.
I already already checked and the the BIOS clock is lossing time. I am using gentoo linux setup with only a command line interface. I think I will post a message to one of their forums to see if it could have been something I have done.
many thanks
Mark
Hi All,
I have a PC where the time is running slow (by about 30 mins as of last night). I've reset the time once and its slowed down again. I'm thinking this may be a motherboard battery problem, however, the computer is on 24/7 so could the battery still be the problem?
Many thanks
Mark

Hi All,
Here's the situation:
We have 6 Windows 2000 Advance servers all acting as Logon servers.
We login on a Windows 2000 Pro client to the network and some old GPOs get applied (These GPOs are no longer required and have been removed). We reboot the client and log on as the same user and...

Good idea to try connecting stright to the printer. The ports are setup up as jetdirect porst (used the software that come with the ports). We also tried updating the drivers before I first posted.

Hi all,
During July / August we upgraded all our workstations from Windows 98SE to Windows 2K pro. Before we upgraded all our printers were working fine. However, after the upgrade, we have several printers that take anywhere between 1 minute to 20 to print. We've tried upgrading the firmware...
Hi Stevehewitt,
Sorry for the delay, its been a bit busy here :-)
We are using Win2k Pro on the clients and Win2k Advanced Server.
I thought that re-enforceing a group policy would be what I was looking for. However after trying your secedit script nothing changed so I am starting to wonder...
If I remember right, in NT4 you have to make sure you are logged off each server for the password to change. I assume this may also be the case for 2000

Hi Steve,
Sorry for the deley in getting back to you. I added it to the log on script but with no luck. All I can say is it can't be what I'm thinking it was.
Mark
Hi Steve,
I will give it a try on Monday and will get back to you.
The special user is used by us to automate software installations.
Many thanks for your help.

Hi Stevehewitt,
As far as I can tell, the GP is working fine. I'm just manually changing it when a specail user logs on through importing a reg file. The problem is, the computer doesn't reapply the GP on a reboot and as such, any user that logs on after, gets the same settings as the...
Hi Stevehewitt,
Sorry about that, I will try again :-)
Bascially, is there away to force a computer to re-apply a policy even if it hasn't changed?
Hope this is better
Mark
Hi all,
I have a custom adm file that re-points the All users folders to the server. We have created a special user that runs an install script that goes through a list of programs and installs any that haven't been installed. This works fine except it places all the shortcuts on the server...
Hi All,
I apologies for the length of this cry for help.
I work in a School where the teachers are due back on Thursday and the students are back on Monday. If by 9 pm tomorrow night (Tuesday), we haven't found a solution to this problem, we will be forced to go back to Windows 98 which we...
Hi Wullie,
If I enter this (which I will give a try a little later), is the user still able to access the directory files. For example, if I have a address like below:
http://www.someurl.com/foo/bar.htm
I want them to beable to access the page bar.htm, but I don't want them to see the...
