Yes USB 2.0 on both machines, ie mine and theirs. Web cam software is not running at the same time as the Windows Live software and neither is any other software!
I'm baffled!
Can anyone help with a webcam problem that I have?
Running Windows XP with Windows Live Messenger Build 8.5.1302.1018 also with Microsoft VX-6000 Lifecam which has a built in microphone and the sound is routed via the single USB socket running from the back of the camera (ie no separate lead...
Running WIndows XP Home *without* SP2 installed on a Pentium IV machine.
Machine boots to "Welcome" screen OK and then when I click on a users name the machine starts to play the tune that goes with the log on process but suddenly the machine will shut down and re start. This normally happens...
I have exactly the same problem, I'm running NIS 2002 with XP.
If you disable the Privicy Control part of NPF or NIS is solves the problem. That way you still maintain firewall protection but you miss out on protecting your confidential data.
SYMPROXYSVC.EXE is the program that NPF uses to...
No Service Pack installed at all. When I try and install that IE6 keeps crashing and is unusable!
I know you're going to ask how can I get USB 2.0 without SP1 or 1a, but somehow I can as I'm running an external hard drive from the USB 2.0 PCI card I installed and can write 60GB in about an...
I have a Belkin 1.1 USB 4 Port Hub. It is capable of mains as well as bus power. However when it is connected to the mains and switched to mains power the hub is not recognised by the machine at powerup. Instead once I have entered the Windows XP desktop I have to unplug the USB B end of the...
I have a Creative 5.1 wired speaker system attached to my Desktop. I want to be able to listen to internet radio in another room. Does anybody know of any wireless speakers that are suitable to plug into the back of the 5.1 amplifier so that I can listen to radio in another room? I've heard that...
Does anybody know how to prevent programs loading in the system tray without actually uninstalling them? (Win XP)
About a month ago I read in a magazine how to do it and you typed a command via the Run menu and it brought up a window where you could manage your system tray but I can't find the...

I have a 4 way USB hub running from one of the ports on my USB 2.0 PCI card, question is I've seen some USB hubs on the market that are specifically for USB 2.0, the one I have was made last year and doesn't say anything about USB 2.0 on the packet, will I have USB 2.0 speeds out of the hub or...
Can anybody recommend a decent WMA to MP3 conversion tool/utility that would run under XP?
I can go from MP3 to WMA but not the other way round.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick.
When I have multiple windows of the same application open on the desktop (ie folder viewer or internet explorer) I used to get different buttons for them on the taskbar. However, now, once I have opened say 2 or 3 I now get one button but a number in red on the button indicating how many windows...
I am running XP home on a 2.0 GHz system.
When I try and put the system into standby mode it goes into standby and the hard disks turn off as they should.
However, when I try and resume, the hard disks fire up again but nothing else happens. Nothing comes on the screen and it certainly does...
I've purchased a USB 2.0 PCI card and am hoping to install it in my machine which is running Windows XP.
Will XP recognise the card without having Service Pack 1 installed?
I don't want to install SP1 as I tried it before and had endless problems with graphics not being displayed on IE6...
Well since I posted that I've managed to partially solve it. I've come to the conclusion that it's one of the Sis cards that is a fault. If you disable them both no problems the machine runs as sweet as a nut. If you need to use printers or other USB devices just enable it for the time you need...
