I'm trying to build a basic logon script for Server 2003. I know how to do the old netlogon NT 4 .bats, but want to do the very basic .vbs just to give users access to shares. I've tried a logon.bat, put it in the right place, but it does not work properly... any help is appreciated.
Help... I have a friend in charge of a fairly large NT4 domain, 7 servers, 60 users. He is really an AS400 guy, so I was working with him on the network and we have a really weird case. Say they're are 3 separate sites. PDC is at Site1, along with Proxy, Mail, etc.. Other two sites have...
I believe setting up DNS "correctly" has solved 90% of my problems. Who would have thought.... I do have another site that has all 98 PC's, and NT4 servers, setup with PC's pointing to ISP for DNS and that network runs fine. I learn something everyday, and you guys and gals sured helped...
da... yeah, I've can get all the firewall info. Sorry, I just had a laspe of intelligence when I ask that question. Again, I sure appreciate all the help. Believe me, I'll never question of the importance of DNS again (it wasn't as big a part of Win NT as with 2000/2003), and seemed a heck of...
binkin (scottie), I've found the FAQ on DNS for WK2 Server, and it has explained how to correctly setup DNS on AD server.
1. They had XP pc's using DNS of ISP, I will change
2. They had NAT/FIREWALL as DHCP server, I will change that to MYSERVER.MYDOMAIN.LOCAL or
3. Should I statically map...
I did an NSLOOKUP and found Default serverof 24.196.152.9.static.fdl.wi.charter.com, which would mean they are being picked up as my DNS server? They are our ISP, broadband, but yet it looks like when the folks set the server up they had the DNS server as MYSERVER.COM. Should I have the DNS...
Just found out some more news on this problem. It seems that PC's connect up via mapped drives on their PC, and event log on server is not letting them log on, but yet, they do look like they log one, ie.. they have the connections to shares. They hold they connections while they are using...
I'm having a problem with Windows Server 2000, my users can connect, but it takes them 30-45 seconds before it lets them onto their shares. The server was in place when I took over the site. The machines has Active Directory on it, which is probably not needed because they only have 3 users...
Help? Here's the problem. I had a domain named Windwalker.com, but after noting I'd not need to connect to the internet, ever, I changed it to windwalker.local, with active directory installed. All PC's came back well, I just had them join Windwalker.local domain, except one - the bosses...
I've got a problem, appreciate any help up front. Got a peer network, all WinXPPro, with one acting as file server. Has drive D holding data for all users. As users have been using there drives, XP builds cached or whatever kind of directories, usually a combination of letters and alpha's...
Trying to build a coping type backup from an NT 4.0 Server, to an XP Pro Workstation on the same network. I'm using Xcopy from the XP box because I can not figure out how to schedule something through NT. I want to schedule a "Backup", actually just copy all files on C, D, E, F to a...
Anyone know of just some code for a counter? I basically want something cheap, easy, no fuse, and really don't want to advertise or point someone to another website. Thanks.
I just called the ISP to make sure they have Frontpage Extensions set, they said no, it would cost another $25 a month (the site is on a Unix box, but they can put it on a MS box for $25 a month...). Thats rediculous. Then they said they could set Net Trends (which includes counting info), for...
What do you have to do to make FrontPage display counters? I've tried adding from within FrontPage, but no go. I'm sure my ISP supports extensions also. Thanks ahead of time.
Actually, they don't want site they are dialing into to be able to pick up there ISP name. I think I've figured it out now though. I will have them disconnect LAN through shortcut on their desktop, then they can use dialup to make connection. Sounds like it'll work. Thanks.
Got a customer who wants to beable to go to a certain site through phone dialup, and a LAN switch (cable modem) for the rest. They want something easy, all I can think of is unplus Cat5 cable when going to site, but this seems a little cumbersom. Appreciate any help given.
Got a MAC G3 that logs onto an NT domain, first logon to PC is good, but when it tries to logon to Server1, it takes keying in password 13 or more times before it logs on (and it does actually logon). It works, but really a pain having to type password so many times. Any one got any idea's...
