    Share VPN ?

Well, let me try to explain a bit. I have one machine on a LAN (in Los Angeles) that connects via Checkpoint to another machine on a LAN (in New York). We'd like to enable all the other machines to use this one VPN connection to provide a networked WAN drive. I hadn't considered the LinkSys...

    Share VPN ?

I have a Win2k box with Checkpoint Secure Remote installed. I'm able to authenticate and connect the secure remote VPN. Locally, I've mapped the remote share as drive N:. My question is how do I get the rest of the LAN to be able to see this networked WAN drive? I can imagine that this...

    Prevent Users from moving folders??

Here's exactly what I did... Right click the ROOT folder, go to Sharing, then Security tab and deselect "Allow inheritable permissions from parent to propagate to this object". Remove Authenticated Users, click on the Advanced... button and select "Reset permissions on all child...

map network drive for all users

If they don't log on to a domain (thus you don't have the logon script that executes) you can just place that batch file inside the startup group and it'll run at startup (preferably in the All users startup group).

    Prevent Users from moving folders??

Thanks Rich, I believe the settings on the ROOT folder are correct, but I may have done something wrong on the subfolders (1,2,3). I users can't create/delete folders or files in these subfolders. Under the SECURITY tab for one of these subfolders, then ADVANCED, I set full access and apply...

Blank screen on Terminal Service Login

I've seen this with remote access programs such as PCanywhere and Remote Administrator but only when the workstation is locked. Typically instead of rebooting the machine I force a logon dialogue box by sending a 'log off' command (if the workstatiion is locked). I've never had it happen with...

    Prevent Users from moving folders??

I know how to get to the settings under Advanced. I am just confused as to how to exactly set the security settings in order to prevent users from moving parent folders while still allowing users full rights in the subfolders.

    Prevent Users from moving folders??

Thanks Mark, All users have the same 'needs' so I've been setting the permissions with all Authenticated Users. I don't do it one by one. One question to your reply though. On both the Root and 1,2,3, folders, when I set the Security under Advanced, under Apply onto: which do I set each to...

    Prevent Users from moving folders??

Hi, I've been searching for the answer to this question for a while. Probably spent more than 8 hours searching and searching. I've probably spent even more time experimenting with my W2k Server. Here's the deal: I have a share called ROOT. Inside that share are various subfolders...

    Desktop Icon positions

Here's a partial answer since I don't know what application you upgraded... I use a small program that saves the position of the desktop icons and at bootup, places them back in the original position. I just place a shortcut to the restoreicons.exe file in my startup group...
