    Quantum Tape Compatibility

    We have tapes that were used in a DLT8000 drive and they have been put into a changer with DLT7000 drives. I've been having numerous media errors. I'm wondering if doing this has damaged my drives. Has anyone experienced this?

    Backup stops immediately on execution

    If you didn't stop all arcserve services before deleting the raaa.chg files you might have destroyed the database. Reinstall Arcserve, create backup jobs and do a special backup of the database intact with all the jobs so you can restore the jobs more easily.

    I would run regular or special backups of the arcserve database from another backup host so you can restore the database. We have a container schedule where all the tapes are changed daily and sent off site. Therefore we know what container was used on a specific date.

    SQL 6.5 Agent for Arc 6.61 NT

    The agent is apparently failing to backup the database using the agent after failing to backup the files on the 'd' drive job. I went back in and unchecked the database files on the d: drive backup and we'll see if it runs properly tonight. Thanks for the info.

    My SQL Agent backups keep failing to backup the database. I keep getting AE0004 Failed to open file errors. The whole purpose of using the SQL Agent is to avoid this issue. I've reloaded the agent several times and it still doesn't work. Got any suggestions?
