    Copying files very slow in one direction

    Try adding a HOSTS file to both systems and see if that solves the problem. I was having similar problems until I did this on a XP Pro and a XP Home system. This required me to give both systems static IP addresses but that was a minor issue. Give it a try and see what happens.

    Try Norton Ghost 2003. I successfully used it to clone my system disk. I remember reading about preparing an image and if it works as well as the cloning did for me you will be satisfied.

    Hosts file is the answer. I was having the same slow problem until I put host files on each computer and now they find each other like expected.
