Hi, Several users require internet access all day and every day in order to do their job. Internet access is normally provided by our proxy server via a wan link. We have put in a adsl broadband line to act as a backup, the broadband router is on the same network and can be pinged ok from the...
Hi, I am not a networking expert so if the solution is obvious please bear with me!

Hi - thanks for the responses, the solution came from 3com (after a lot of hassle), a fireware upgrade - this resolved all the issues, and the router has been up for some time now without any issues
thanks

Is there any preference where the DHCP server is placed in a new SBS installation. Is it generally better to have SBS 2003 providing DHCP services or allow the router to do it (for example 3com wireless ADSL or Linksys etc)?
Or does it make no difference, my only thought is that if the router...
Thanks for your reply, this is not my first SBS server however, I have setup SBS 2003 many times before, modifying the smtp connector and virtual server was an attempt to solve the issue, not for any other reason. If port 25 was blocked then all mail would be queued, this is not the case only...
Hi, I have recently installed SBS 2003 SP1 + all current patches and the server is working OK.
However email delivery is a little hit and miss. Messages seemed to get stuck in the Exchange queue. To assist I modified the SBS SMTP connector delivery options to always run, I also modified the...
Hi - I have been using 3com routers for years, recently I bought a new one a 3com Office Connect ADSL Wireless 108 Mbps Firewall Router - model 3CRWDR200A-75 and have the following very odd problem: -
It's working fine for internet access for all computers that are connected via Ethernet cable...
Hi,
I have been landed with the responsibility of the SMS 2003 server administration, the guru we had has left!
I am reading the manuals and trying to get up to speed as quickly as i can. My current problem is that not all PC's seem to be running the SMS advanced agent. I though the SMS server...
Hi,
Thanks for the reply, how did you add the Win2003K domain admin to NT domain admins group, and vica versa. We cannot see how to browse to add these accounts?
ie User manager does not browse outside of its domain and win2003k does not see the NT domain in locations within domain admins...
Hi,
We want to set up a trust between an NT4 domain and a new 2003 AD domain to allow us to install Exchange 2003 and connect back to our 5.5 Exchange server in the NT4 domain.
However although we have created & verified a 2 way external, non transitive trust, we cannot: -
Add any NT accounts...
Here's my conundrum in its simplest form:
PIX 515E-DMZ; PIX OS 6.3(3)
interface outside: security 0
interface dmz: security 50
interface inside: security 100
1. Reset the PIX to factory defaults
2. Enter a basic config with nothing more than interface and IP address details
3. Add the...
Hi,
We have a problem with Exchange 5.5 where a user is trying to connect via OWA and getting the above error. We have recreated the mailbox and account. Error still occurs, it only affects a few other users out of >1700
We found a Microsoft article 247085 that we thought would fix it, however...
Hi,
Obviously the permissions need to be checked to ensure they are correct check account status, if they ok then give exchange time to apply them. Sometimes it can take a while (<2hrs)
Add someone else into the permissions list and see if they can access the account.
Hi,
I am a little new to creating batch files, essentially I want the script below to run a menu, if the user presses 1 they are taken to a setup.exe. If they hit 2 the menu quits and if they hit any other key it errors and shows the menu again. It seems to work ok in win2k but not NT 4.
Any...
Hi,
Thanks for your reply, we have now noticed that the drive is not mapping due to the letter, not DFS. We were using drive B, it maps ok using P.
It must be to do with Citrix client remapping? How can we tell Citrix not to map back the B drive - any ideas
Thanks again
Giles
Hi,
We are using a Citrix Metaframe XP farm and have noticed that users logging in to Citrix are not picking up any DFS shares. Other non DFS shares are fine, but the main DFS share indicates it is mapping successfully in the login script, but no drive appears. Non Citrix users have no issues...
We have since discovered that some of our DFS servers are fast, some are slow in terms of mapping to from PC's. All the slow ones have been upgraded to (WIN2K) SP4. All the fast ones are SP3 or below.
We feel that maybe there is a link between SP4 and DFS? Anyone seen this too?
Hi,
We have a standalone (non AD) DFS structure in place consisting of one DFS root hosted on one server (win2k) linking to other roots on other 2k servers which then contain the shares. This provides us with one drive letter, five subfolders (provided by five DFS servers) and shares within. It...
