Just want to get a pulse on status of Group Shield 7 on E2K7 SP1. McAfee not officially supporting it yet but I would like to upgrade my E2K7 Servers to SP1.
Has anyone with GS7 upgraded yet, how did it go?
Thanks in advance.
Does anyone know of an all inclusive list of TCP/UDP ports that the Edge Transport Role Server & ADAM will use to talk to the Exchange Servers/AD on the inside? I have it up and running well, but my firewall is squaking about seemingly random (dynamic) ports being blocked from port 25 to the...
You would need a boot disk that had all drivers/utilities needed for your particular hardware and create the partition pre-Windows Install. Than you would use the pre-existing partition to install Windows to. Unless you have high disk IO on your boot drive (you did move your page file, right?)...
One more often overlooked thing - Don't forget to use DISKPART to create your partitions to get propper offset alignment. See this overlooked waaay to often. There is not an easy way to do this for the boot partition, but for all others it is an absolute must. You could leave up to 25%...
Ah but it does. If you put your page file on it's own partition it does not frag the other partitions, resulting in better long term performance. Granted dedicated spindles would be better, but if you don't have em in the budget, may as well slice and dice.
Ontrack Power Controls may give you what you need. There is a demo version that should allow you to see what you could extract if you were to buy the product.
Looks like a fine starting point or maybe even a bit more than you need. My only recomendation would be to partition your RAID1 volume 3 ways, 1st for OS, 2nd for page files, 3rd for Trans Logs. It is advisable to keep trans logs seperate from DB for DR purposes.
On your RAID 5 set you may...
We narrowed it down a bit more..... It only acts up when we try to use Policy Groups to control the SPAM filter. This may be more of an issue with the Policy Groups than the SPAM Filter. We have escalated this to Tier II support at McAfee..........
According to the MS Propeganda Machine, E2K7 is somthing like 30% more efficient with disk IO than E2K3 was. It all really comes down to workload and sizing. Large environments are using SANs and will have storage engineers tune their storage performance on the fly as needed. In general terms, I...
Have been using it for 9 months partialy automated in a 3 node cluser with ~ 60 VMs. Work well for us. Have never had an issue but we have never let go of the reigns either.
Has anyone implimented Exchange 2007 Edge Servers with Groupshield 6.0.3? We loaded our exchnage servers with Groupshield (including bundled anti-Spam compnent). With group shield running smtp sessions always time out. Turn off group shield by stopping the service and everything is happy...
So you can configure Exchange 2007 to accept e-mail for multiple domains, this is well documented. But what if I want the appearance of that same domain in the EHLO/HELO from the send connectors? I have a situation where there are 4 different domains being used for e-mail and I want to obfuscate...
I have a "smarthost" that I am forwarding all of my outbound e-mail to. It requires 1 message per connection to work properly. I knew how to change this in E2K3 but for the life of me cannot find documentation on how to change it in E2K7. I am assuming this is a PowerShell only change as I can...
I am going to take a stab at this tonight. I actually have 2 E2K7 HT Servers Installed, Should I repeat the deletion and creation of the connectors on both of them?
After very sucsessful testing in a research lab we roled Exchange 2007 out to our production environment, and of course the initial install of the first Hub Transport Server crashed due to a known bug in the MS install media.
We had to re-install and it looked good, but alas, the default...
I am fairly new to Backup Exec 11, but am considering switching from Arcserve.
Does anyone know if it is possible to backup by \\SERVERNAME\F$ as an example like you can in Arcserve without the purchase of a remote agent? I know I could create shares all over the place but would prefer not to...
Been there, done that. Not sure I would want to do it for production or DR purposes, but did all of our DCs for a test environment with VMWare converter. I spent 3 days getting replication consistent and in the end did get it to work quite well but it still would not rest well for me if it were...
