Yes, that is what I thought. I've found this dinky little Windows batch language called DS32P that I can use. It only runs when it sees the correct window appear, and is really versatile.

I do not know what this Ontrack stuff is.... but have you tried to run Ontrack under 98, to see if it can see the drive? That worked for me with one of those proprietary patches for getting oversize disks to be seen by the BIOS.
There are two answers, and you can use both.
1) Run these every time you notice your system slowing down.
2) Run them when you will be away from your system for a while, and can leave it running them as a form of routine maintenance.
Personally, I only use them as infrequently as possible...
