Same experience here. What happened is the following:
WIN2K crashed while shutting down, and then restarted automatically.
The best way to fix this is to avoid the crash and have WINDOWS shut down properly.
The cause for all that hassle could be:

Using the database software "Documentum" at work for our content management system, I have to type my username and password many times every day. There is absolutely no "Remember Username/Password" Option in the Plug-In we use (which is FrameLink by DataLogics).
Is there any...
As it seems there will be no drivers available, I settled for the OS solution and created a Dual-Boot system with WIN98 and WIN2K.
The sound card works well in WIN98, and for the rest I use WIN2K.
Well, it is working now.
Here is what I did:

So what? Did anybody...

As I do not have a functioning OS by then, I cannot tell you which...
Dear wolluf,
I tried the procedure you described and experienced a problem. For administration, I am using powerquest´s BootMagic.
With PartitionMagic 7.0, I created a FAT32 partition of 1,5 GB right BEHIND my original c: (NTFS) partition where W2K lives (this is 8GB, due to a lot of software...
