You can do 2 things.
1.) Use an HTML "On Open" statement to launch a script that will check version. If the client is not installed, then it will redirect them to a page where they can download it. This is pretty much like the default NFuse page.

I had somewhat of the same issue at one time. What i found was that one of my servers did not have the "altaddr" set. After correcting it, it seemed to work fine.
I have had mixed results by not running it in installer mode. Sometimes they seem to work and others they don't or they don't play nice. So as a rule, I usually run "change user /install" from a command prompt before running Windows updates.
Check the database and the ODBC driver on the servers both TS and SQL. What SQL authentication are you using? If you are using NT authentication to access the DB, I would recommend trying the SQL authentication and using a centralized user account and password to access the database. I had a...
