Here's what I do;
Open a DOS window and use LIST.COM to search for a word in the mailbox files. They are named IN.MBX, OUT.MBX, TRASH.MBX, etc..
The .MBX files are in text format.
LIST.COM is a free program, but you could use other text readers that have a word search feature. Wordpad is one...
OK, thanks for that tip. Alt-Tab also takes me back to Windows, and I can do that key combo using one hand, however it also expands whatever I had minimized on the task bar.
Alt-Spacebar would take me back to windows without doing that.
I always used ALT-SPACEBAR to go from a DOS window back to Windows. It was faster than using ALT-ENTER as that just took me to a smaller screen DOS window from the full size one I was in, then I'd have to enter EXIT to get back to Windows.
Anyhow, ALT-SPACEBAR no longer works and I'd like to...

It may have been that I was in the Preview Pane mode. A graphics appeared below my message without me clicking on anything. Since cancelling Preview, I now see the attachment filename, underlined, at the bottom of the message.
I think Outlook Express auto-opened...
In case you are not aware of this marking procedure........
Click on the first message of the list, go to the last one you want to mark,
Hold SHIFT and click it. All messages in between will be marked. The older versions let you mark several by dragging the pointer, but v. 5.1 does not.
