    password & login slows down

I found some questions referencing telnet slowdown, but when it happens, it takes just as long to login on the serve console. Also, reboot clears the problem for a week or so. I did find some information on this slow login in the archives. There was a script that is supposed to fix the problem.

I am having a problem with login and password slowdown with telnet from workstations, and also from terminal. It re-occurs about once every week or so, and rebooting the system is the only way I have found to restore normal login time. The password prompt and login prompts takes over a minute to...

    cron does not execute, sometimes

New installation 5.06 from 5.05, no patches added since set up Nov, 2000. I read about idleout in the manuals. I have not worked with SCO very long. Is idleout a background program? Or shoud it be run in cron before my other commands?

    cron does not execute, sometimes

I have set up cron to do tape backup daily, and to run a dayend function of our software. The dayend function requires all users to be logged off. I have found that the cron for both of these functions (in root cron) have failed twice over the last month. I suspect that all users may not be...
