Ok this is a lesson that I have to learn.Never ask someone to do something if you think they might not be able to no matter how busy you are.
I made my ssl request to a cert authority by file.I got my id back and pasted it into notepad and saved it as a *.cer
So I asked my web guy to install...
Thanks for your reply.I already checked that post.
However express won`t let me import the Database from 2000.I get an error stating the path is not found even when I try to restore it.
I tried creating a new DB and overwriting the .mdf and ldf files and then try to restore it.None of it works...
Actually I have one more question. SQL isn`t really my strong point and I have been coerced into doing this.
However I am trying to figure out how to import a DB made in 2000 into sql2005 express.I thought I might be able to back up or import it that way somehow.
I installed the express...
Thanks man I appreciate that. I know windows server but really not well versed on sql.
I am not really wanting to run sharepoint.it`s only a platform for a webinterafce driven by a DB.
Basically all it has to do it is run.
Also you think there will be any issues about moving a DB made in...
I am kinda confused over this issue however I know that the web edition can't have sql server installed.I know that I need to use sql express 2005 for this.
Is it embedded in the OS or I have to install it manually. The reason I am asking is I have to setup a Japanese server and it`s live.It has...
Well fortunately we don`t have that many users yet.So basically I just set up the few accounts.
It didn`t take long to setup dozen users.
I appreciate your help guys and thanks for the advice I`ll have a look anyway.
Strange huh it seems like it`s easier to do in AD?
This might help but it`s worth a shot.
Try using the cia commander bootdisk
http://www.matcode.com/ciacmd.htm
You can access the ntfs partition at the root and you should be able to change your logon credentials and also access the whole disk.
It might work but it`s worth a try.
hope it helps
I would tell you to use a simple bootdisk.
Cia commander bootdisk will allow you to access any ntfs partition before the logon. So you`ll be able to change the password

Hope this helps

Thanks.Yeah you did read correctly from standalone to standalone.
And the naming is important as it is a registered nameserver to our domain.
So I should be looking for a tool?
Anyway I am still looking everywhere for more info.
Any other help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks
The actual server is not using AD and I plan to take one down before the other goes up as I want to rename the new machine as the old one.
In AD I won`t be able to change the server name. The issue is the primary server is going to need upgrading or repaired so it might be down for a...
Ok I tried looking on microsoft technet and I can`t be very good at it.I can`t find any info I need.
Basically I pleeded with our office for a second server. It`s a much better machine as the other one is having problems with it`s adaptec card.I installed windows2000 in standalone mode with...
If I understand correctly when you do nslookup 207.xx.x.x or domain name it shows your private ip and maybe real ip??
I guess you must be running AD?
And I bet you have CName records in your dns? for the servers.
Also did you setup A mip from firewall to server??
I think I understand what...
I don`t have much to do with office2000 but as I am the only guy in the IT dept,I must.
Anyway the issue is something really stupid and I know the answer is probably very simple.I install windows and keep that account as the admin account. The laptop is part of a workgroup. So then I set a local...
I can`t seem to get it right.
I setting up a mixed mode domain and moving all the office machines onto the domain.
I want to keep everyone`s local desktop when they are joined on to the domain.
I guess the idea is to go to AD users and computers and specify a network path to their user...
No Ideas???
I just can`t get my head around it.Do I have to set up a virtual nic with my primary ext ip and no gateway so I can force the dns on that ip?
