OK, here's the deal. I have a user who was once set up so that when he went to write a new email and clicked 'to' and then went to the far right of the Select Names window, he'd hit the drop down menu to reveal all the choices. Now when he got down to the 'public folders' choice, from there he...
I RECENTLY SETUP A 2000 DC IN PLACE OF AN EXSISTING NT DC. THE NEW SERVER IS RUNNING AD WELL AND HAS ALL THE INFO FROM THE PAST DC ON IT, INCLUDING THE FILES OF THE USERS ETC. HERE'S MY PROBLEM...WHEN USERS TRY TO SAVE WORK TO THE NEW SERVER THEY GET THE ERROR: "NETWORK PATH TOO...
This may be a silly ques but whats the best way to remove an NT pdc and put a 2000 pdc in its place? Please advise...i have the 2000 server up and running and it is part of the current NT domain...also, the workstations are running XP...
Thanks ...the higher the fewer...
Is AOL the way they connect to the internet or are they using AOL's browser? If they're trying to get thru via AOL's built in browser it could be a conflict...try going to http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/en/60/help/default.asp
good luck
Again, these all will work but why not fix the problem directly?
Instead of accommodating these scumbag spammers (cause its taking space on ur server and taking ur time - not to mention bothering the user) enable message tracking, (but make sure you monitor this .log file it can get big fast!)...
Yes, zipping the .exe files is a work around but its not actually fixing the problem. In fact you could be opening another can of worms. Viruses are notoriously sent via zip files. So unless you're exchange server and desktops have a solid (global/enterprise) anti-virus scheme, i'd suggest...
One thing you could do to save the admin time and more importantly your time you should request an upgrade to 2000 professional. You won't need to go thru the hassle of multiple profiles and the admin should make you a personal login script that you can execute if you need to when you're away...
If it can't the file, bring the file to it....copy that file from a healthy system (w/ excel). Find the file, copy it to network or floppy and replace the bad boy. and of course service pack the system.

since it doesn't show up having anything to do with microsoft, i'd assume its 3rd party... Anti-virus? Back up? Peripherals?? Virus???
Find out what it is 1st, don't just turn it to manual...but sometimes ya have break a few eggs to make an omlette...
Ya know if you're really desperate and need a quick fix, you should go to 'search' and make sure ALL files are shown (hidden ones - so you can see the .DLL's you'll need) and try and take the .DLL's from a healthy workstation and replace the ones on your system with the transplanted ones...

Wow that server is chugging...
1st you might want to consider putting the printing services on a seperate box, nothing too beefy but it will allow the server to allocate more resources to exchange.
But, to answer the ques...i would buy another 256 of RAM totalling physical RAM to 512 and make...
One thing you might want to try is something a bit unconventional but i've done it in desperate times lol...
If you have unused space on your hard drive, (which i'm sure you do given the size of HD's now-a-days) you can boot up with the NT CD and reinstall the O/S but when installing you must...
Prior responses are correct, and to add to them....
When you have multiple servers on a LAN or WAN for that fact there are 'elections' that go on every X amount of minutes. If your SAM and WINS tables aren't healthy there is a possibilty the PDC will be demoted and a BDC will promote itself...
