The problems still occurs despite the min number of media and retention times all being correct. Daily seems fine, again referring to my earlier post, there its the overall "preserve media" option of the backup job itself that is possibly the cause.- Gazbrewer

I've been looking at this myself. There seems to be an overriding "preserve media" option. This as standard is set to 4 for daily, 5 for weekly and 12 for monthly. Meaning it always holds on to this number of tapes, so you need 1 more adding for a tape to move into the scratch set...- Gazbrewer
