I agree. Get the lowest model with 2 Fast Ethernet Interfaces for trunking and Inter-VLAN routing. However, I do not think your model router is ISL capable to handle inter-VLAN routing, I think you need a 2611 at minimum but I could be wrong.

Your description is rather vague, but I will give it a shot. The firewall should physically sit in between your border router and your network. Kinda like this:
(WAN CLOUD)---(Border Router)---(FW)---(LAN)

I do not think that checkpoint is capable of denying file extensions. If you find a way please let me know. As for the live broadcasts, I would assume you would have to block either the IP of the broadcasting server or the port(s) that is/are used by the software.

Firstly, that URL is not working. And a few questions, like.. what are your rules? Did you create network objects? Since your firewall isn't the gateway, can you be more specific on your network configuration, ie. What are the tcp/ip settings of all the machines, clients, firewall, ftp...
I am not 100% sure, bu tI had the same problem last year and I beleive there is a configuration option where there FW itself will not reply to pings. This is a security feature and puts the FW in stealth mode.
Hope this helps,

Try checking registration with DNS and WINS during startup in your netowrk settings.... if you have that enabled without a WINS or DNS server.... Logon will take forever. I just fixed this one today.
I did some research on the Microsoft site and seems that SQL uses FTP (port 21) to transfer data during replication thru a proxy. Try testing this by adding the ftp service in your rule.

Hi Beldin,
Just wondering if the remote SQL server is behind another firewall and if so, is NAT implemented in this solution at either (or both) ends.
Also, have you taken a look at the logs for any dropped connections refering to a rule/port.

Can anyone recommend a cost efficient router with a minimum of 3 ethernet ports?
The router will be used to connect 2 lab segments to the existing corporate network.
Thanks
