Sending bulk email messages from VFP 6.0 and VFP 9

If by "bulk" you mean spam, I don't want to help you. But if you mean sending invoices or confirmation to existing customers, that is "kosher" 😂 I have a system where our local branches sends backups and a lot of other files to our HQ. When they have been processed by the HQ server I send an...

    Turn off emails

I followed the tip but it didn't work. BUT with the next mail I got, I looked a little more careful. Although the colours are very pale, I discovered that it had a "disable emails" link at the bottom. THAT worked (so far) 😂

    Report Form print sizing problem

Well that's only true if you made a default install, right? I have mine in D:\Program\VFP9, so I can easily move the entire directory to another computer.

    Flagging Help topics as favorites

Good tip Mike. I don't think I need it though. I seldom use the help file, and when I do, the search function usually is sufficient 😂

    Fatal error: Exception code=C0000005

In my limited experience of C5 errors (my users don't get them a lot), the line numbers in the error log aren't very useful. The crash could be at the same place, but line numbers can be different despite that. A reboot of the offending client usually fixes the problem.

Find all files used in compilation

Mike Lewis already told you it can be done and I agree. I'll tell you how I do it: I have a metadatatable where all tables are listed with both the DBF-Structure, the CDX-structure and other data regarding every table in the system. I never USE a table directly, it always goes thru an...

    Problem with SET DEFAULT TO

Thinking somewhat "outside the box" here :) Have you ever considered NOT using Windows stupid directory system? At my around 50 installations all over Sweden, everything is on a directory on a server. Inside that directory I have subdirectories like for example: DATA REPORTS IN OUT And so on...

Not that this should do any difference in this case, but there's absolutely no reason to register the runtime DLL:s

    Help with SQL-Syntax (in VFP)

Thank you all for taking your time to answer in the holidays and all [bigsmile] I said i had simplified the example and unfortunately I did it a little to much. In reality I don't use ALIAS() and I of course SELECT into a named cursor, but nothing of that was the problem. The problem was in a...

    Help with SQL-Syntax (in VFP)

Hi, folks, hope you are having a good time in the holidays. I probably only have a brain freeze but I can't solve this just now [sad]. I have a table where I need to sum some fields from our version of a SSN (Personal Identification Number). Something like this (simplified): SELECT SSN...

Creating a .txt with edtiboxs current values

Nice work (and explaining), Scott. Is there any reason why you didn't use STRTOFILE() instead?

Table corrupted, after repair accessing Memo field says "Cannot open memo field"

I usually "fix" this kind of problems by copying the file to a new one. When the copying stops because of the corrupted memo, I REPLACE all memos with "" on that row. Then I continue to do the copying until the entire file goes through. Of course some of the memo info is lost, but at least I can...

    How to make index fast

Sorry, Scott. I wasn't trying to offend you...

    How to make index fast

A small comment: SELECT STOCK SET ORDER TO (SuperFastIndex) Is not only unnecessary, but actually slows the SELECT down a little bit :)
  18. Dan Olsson

Order By not working as Expected

Well, you expect wrong :) The order remains the order from the Select. If you want it otherwise, you have to INDEX before the INSERT
