    Audio device missing

    My main audio device does not appear on bootup until I execute "sfc /scannow". I now run "sfc /scanboot" to ensure this runs each time I boot up the PC - I do not want to do this as it takes nearly 10 minutes. Is there a permanent solution?

    4 clients, 1 server all running Win2k Pro. It was installed by another person and was working for a while. The network had some problems and he changed the IP addresses from automatic to static. I was aked to come in and try and sort it out but I've tried everything I can think of.
