The arp table is dynamic and short lived. I've seen a 48 port switch before with only 5 to 10 arp entries, so that's not always reliable.
Is the switch part of your network or just a stand alone device? Have you tried other 2K devices to make sure it's not just in the 2K's IP settings...
Where did the switch come from? If it's new from the box, then there may be a hardware problem because they usually work fine out of the box. I'm guessing that someone did some configuration changes to it previous to it being in your classroom that has the ports on different VLANs, or even...
Hey, here's a goofy question but it may help us get to the answer faster, does the link light come on when you plug in, and if so, does it every go to green or stay amber?
We use Excel to play with all the numbers. Reporter usually limits you to who you can sort through for the most part. It takes some getting used to and if you have more than 64,000 lines Excel won't open the whole thing, but there's ways around that.
